Our team is highly experienced in treating a variety of injuries including sports, office-related, post-trauma (eg. whiplash), back & neck pain and headaches, as well as treatment to improve performance and prevent injuries.
Peter Culliford, MCSP
Peter qualified from U.W.E. Bristol in 1999 with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Following qualifying he worked within the NHS in central Bristol hospitals and GP surgeries.
Then in 2000 with itchy feet and a determined mind he went to set up a Physiotherapy service in Lady Willingdon hospital, Manali in the Indian Himalayas for 9 months. This is a service which we continue to support as a business.
On returning in 2002 Grange Physiotherapy was started, moving to Cannons Health Club in the Summer of 2004.
The majority of Peter’s clinical experience is treating office injuries, sports injuries, and back/neck pain. He continues his professional development with regular post graduate courses, as well as working hard to develop a balanced and highly skilled team within our business.
Prior to being a Physiotherapist he spent prolonged time in the Himalayas on sponsored expeditions, but his passion now is his family. He is married and has six lovely children which keep him busy outside of work.
I very much enjoy the work as a Physiotherapist, and as a team we aim to do the maximum possible for our clients in increasing their performance and aiding the resolution of their injuries
Martin Bell, MBAPO HPC Reg.
Since graduation (13 years ago) from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Martin has worked within the Prosthetic/Orthotic department of North Bristol Trust. During this time he has developed significant areas of expertise and has specialised in the following areas:
- Dynamic Gait Analysis

- Lower Limb Bio-mechanics
- Lower Limb Paediatric Orthotics
- Orthotic management of the Chronic Diabetic Foot
Many of his clients require Biomechanical Gait Analysis and treatment to assist their return to sport. He continues his Professional Development through regular attendance at post graduate courses
His interest in developing training and education in Prosthetics and Orthotics has taken him to Mauretania and Mozambique.
A keen badminton player and an enthusiastic if creative golfer, Martin still manages to find time to pursue his favourite hobby, Photography.
His wife Sue and his recently born first child Emily fill the rest of his spare time.

Description of Services
Your initial assessment appointment will be 45min long. During this appointment we will assess your posture and your gait and you may be offered the opportunity of a running or walking trial with a choice of stock insoles. This trial allows you firsthand experience of postural foot re-alignment as discussed during your session. You will feel an immediate increase in support and stability as your new insoles correct your posture.
Custom-made Orthotic inlays are recommended as a permanent treatment option as they offer additional shock absorbency, comfort and dynamic flexibility making them the device of choice for active individuals. Each unique prescription is CAD machine carved for accuracy and is tailored to fit your exact needs.

Gill Hurst, MCSP
Gill Hurst has recently joined Grange Physiotherapy and has been practising since 1995 having qualified from Manchester University. From there she spent two years as a Physiotherapist in the London teaching hospitals experiencing a wide range of medical conditions and began specialising in musculoskeletal medicine.
Gill went on to Australia to work in Melbourne and the Central Coast working as the manager of a private clinic for neck and back pain. Following this she worked as Physiotherapist in the New Zealand ski fields for the winter season of 2002. Here Gill was able to develop first class experience in acute skiing and snowboarding injuries at the highest level during world-class championships.
On returning to the UK Gill worked in private clinics in Harley Street, London before moving to Oxford to set up a Clinic within the health and fitness sector. Here she was involved in the teaching of students and junior therapists in the Oxford Radcliffe NHS trust.
Gill is qualified in Acupuncture for pain relief in sports and spinal problems. She has also spent time in Colorado completing an advanced qualification as a yoga instructor.
Gill is committed to continually updating knowledge and skills in line with the latest scientific research and integrates this into the most effective ways of treating pain and injury through Physiotherapy.
Birgitte Hoff
Birgitte qualified from the University of the West of England in 2006. Since then she has gained a broad range of clinical experience in a variety of NHS settings across the South West.
In 2009, Birgitte returned to Bristol and specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy working for South Gloucestershire PCT . Her role within South Gloucestershire PCT involved assessing a treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions from long standing conditions to sports injuries and post orthopaedic surgery. She was also involved in running a back rehabilitation group and an ACL reconstruction rehabilitation group during this time.
Birgitte have developed a particular interest in treating shoulder and knee conditions and integrates scientific evidence into her practice. She is committed to maintaining and developing my professional skills through attending regular post graduate courses.
Emma Davies
Chartered Physiotherapist, State Registered
In 2004 Emma attained a BSc with Honours in Science in Health, Exercise and Sport and from The University of Wales, Institute Cardiff. Whilst at UWIC she qualified as a Sports Massage Therapist working with the Welsh and Italian Rugby Union Teams during multiple IRB Six Nations Tournaments. Emma then ran her own sports massage practice in Wales for a year before moving to Bristol to start her second degree in Physiotherapy at the University of West England. Since graduating from UWE in 2008 she worked for the NHS, gaining experience in a broad range of clinical settings.
- Sports Massage Therapist & Physiotherapist CSP & HPC Registered.
- Previous experience in working with elite athletes and teams, including the Welsh International Rugby Union Team.
- NHS Physiotherapist 3 years.
- Currently physiotherapist for Bristol Sonics Rugby League Team
- Nutritional and lifestyle management advice for prevention of injuries can also be offered.
Emma specialises in soft tissue injuries, myofascial trigger points, sporting injuries and postural imbalances. As an enthusiastic sports person she is keen to promote a healthy lifestyle and can offer advice on nutrition, lifestyle management and training programs of all levels.
Owen Lynch
Owen trained as a Chartered Physiotherapist at the University of Nottingham and qualified in 2001. Following this he continued his professional development working as a Physiotherapist with the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The majority of Owen’s clinical experience is treating sports injuries, work-related injuries and back/neck pain. He is passionate about professional development and using the most up to date evidence-based practice to help his clients overcome muscoloskeletal injury and make the most of their physical abilities.
Owen is married and has three young children.
Tony Gill
Tony Gill is a highly experienced physiotherapist. He currently hold a specialist post in the NHS as an ESP assessing and treating complex mechanical problems.
Tony has a broad range of experience in all musculo-skeletal conditionss and has a special interest in shoulder pathology and lower back pain.
As well as standard physiotheraputic treatments he is also qualified in acupuncture and injection therapy.
Tony is passionate about professional development and teaches other qualified physiotherapists shoulder assessment and treatment to better there ability to treat simple and complex conditions.
